EP81 The Home Depot Holiday Wreath

HomeMade Modern DIY holiday workshop wreath project with The Home Depot

My friends over at The Home Depot asked me to help out with a DIY workshop focused on holiday décor. These free workshops will be held on Saturday, November 21st and will demonstrate how to hang a trio of wreaths. I'll be hosting a workshop at The Home Depot in Atlanta at 650 Ponce De Leon Pl NE, Atlanta, GA 30306.

SUPPLIES:

HomeMade ModernWreaths
Available at The Home Depot
I used 4 wreaths from the Martha Stewart collection.

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1: Find a Location
Since my home in Boston has a glass front door, I couldn’t hang the wreaths on it – so I decided to hang the four wreaths in my upstairs window.

STEP 2: Paint a Trim Board
The wreaths are fairly heavy, so I decided to screw a poplar trim board to the upper windowsill and hang the wreaths from that. We painted the poplar board with white interior latex paint.

STEP 3: Screw the Board to the Windowsill
I screwed the painted trim board to the underside of the upper windowsill and then screwed on two pipe straps to use to hang the wreaths.

STEP 4: Hang the Wreaths
I used some strong nylon cord to hang the wreaths. I tied the first wreath to the pipe strap and then tied the second wreath to the first wreath.

STEP 5: Hide the Cords
The wreaths have lights built-in, but I still needed to use extension cords to plug them into the wall. I used zip ties to hide the cords behind the wreaths and grouped the cords between the wreaths with the nylon cords.

STEP 6: Cover the Cords with Ribbons
I used the some wide ribbon from the Martha Stewart Collection to hide the cords. I wrapped the ribbon around both wreaths and then stapled them to each other around the cords.
